Seth Sloan, (left) Jonathan Dean (center) and Jacob Pressley portrayed shepherds at the time of Jesus Christıs birth during the East Sylva Baptist Church childrenıs program Sunday night. About 15 children participated in the Christmas celebration, which was directed by the Rev. Jim Dean and included various skits and songs related to the holiday season. The church will host a special candlelight service at 6 p.m. this Sunday, Dec. 22. The event will include performances by the church choir. Refreshments will be served following the service.
