QC is going public

Stitcher QC Apparel owner Clemmey Queen (standing right) told members of the Economic Development Commission of Jackson County that his company has plans to go public. Hosting a tour of his new operation at the former Tuckaseigee Mills site Tuesday, Queen explained to the EDC how shareholders of Oakboro Textiles have approved a plan to merge with QC. The new company, to be called CMI Manufacturing Inc., will become official April 1 and offer three levels of stock, one of which will be reserved for "our loyal employees who are the backbone of our operation - and success," Queen said. In addition to manufacturing high-end "bed-in-a-bag" sets for the May Co., QC has joined with DivaTex to produce faux fur/tapestry throws sold over the QVC home shopping television network. - Herald photo by Rose Hooper
