Glenville SRC attendants Taren Kotila, left, and Lorena Beasley have been on the job at the county's last recycling center to come online for just about three weeks. They said Monday that more area residents are becoming aware of the center and most are glad it's open. The question of who should be allowed to use the county's eight free household garbage and recycling drop-off centers will be debated tonight (Thursday) during a regular meeting of the board of commissioners. Concerns have raised by representatives of GDS, the Hendersonville-based company that staffs the SRCs and transports waste to the Macon County Landfill. They say that additional hauling and tipping fees are being incurred due to over use of the centers by the county's many private garbage haulers. The haulers, on the other hand, say they should be entitled to use the centers since they are dumping the garbage of those who have paid county taxes to use the centers. - Herald photo by Lisa Majors-Duff
