Glenville teen dead after Saturday collision

By Lynn Hotaling

A Saturday morning (June 1) automobile accident resulted in the death of a Glenville woman.

The one-car accident claimed the life of Jennifer Ann Boucher, 17, a passenger in a 1995 Ford Escort driven by Jonathan Ray Logan, 19, also of Glenville. Boucher was thrown from the vehicle as Logan fought to regain control of the car, said Trooper Derek Robinson of the N.C. Highway Patrol. Logan will likely be charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and exceeding safe speed, Robinson said.

Logan, who was traveling south on N.C. 107 near Glenville when the accident occurred, received only minor injuries, Robinson said. Neither of the car's occupants was wearing a seat belt, Robinson said.

The accident took place at about 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Robinson said. Logan's vehicle veered onto the right shoulder of the highway, regained the road, hit the right guard rail and then swerved and collided with the guard rail on the other side, the trooper said. Logan's car ran off the road on the left side and overturned into a ditch, throwing Boucher from the vehicle, before coming to rest on its wheels on the highway, Robinson said.
