Robinson hits 3,000 points
Smoky Mountain senior Ashley Robinson (with basketball) was honored at halftime of last week’s men’s game against Asheville for surpassing 1,000 career points in the season-opener against Owen. Joining her were her coach, Cindi Simmons (left), and family members, from left: father, Derek Robinson; sister, Alyssa Robinson; mother, Dora Robinson: and grandparents, Ray and Jerri Kinsland. “It’s amazing, and I’m really excited,” Robinson said of reaching the honor. “This wasn’t ever a goal. It was more of a team thing.” Robinson is a four-year starter and a three-time all-conference selection. She was a key member of the Lady Mustangs’ 2007 state championship team. – Herald photo by Carey Phillips |
