WE RECEIVED A NOTE FROM KAREN DAVIS of the Jackson County Department on Aging. She said they’d like to thank everyone who participated in the recent pet food drive sponsored by Western Carolina University’s Service Learning Department. The drive was held in support of “Operation AniMeals,” which provides pet food for the cats and dogs belonging to home-delivered meals clients. Funding for this program is provided solely by donations. “A great many of our seniors live alone and depend on their pets for company as well as a sense of security. Unfortunately, many of them are unable to provide nutritious pet food for their companions because their limited income must be used for medicine, utilities, and other bills,” Davis wrote. “For this reason, the pet owners and the Department on Aging are extremely grateful to the community members who donated. Your involvement in caring for the seniors of Jackson County is greatly appreciated.”
LIVE MUSIC is planned next Thursday, Oct 23, from 5 until 9 p.m. on the CatWalk in Cullowhee. Featured groups include Cullowhee’s Almost Kinetic and Cooking with Quanta.
