This is a picture of the late Robert “Bob” Fulmer in 1964 when he was 8 years old at Tuckasegee during the grand opening of Fulmer’s 66 service station and grocery store. The store, which was located in the same building at the intersection of N.C. 281 and N.C. 107 that now houses Jimmy’s Mini-Mart, was owned by his parents, Joe and Virginia Fulmer, who bought the store from Doc Moses. Lefty the Clown was on hand to welcome people and entertain the children, according to Bob’s older brother, Jim Fulmer, who submitted the photo.
