Harkin

A Sylva man has been charged with multiple counts of breaking and entering motor vehicles in local neighborhoods.

Logan John Harkin, 23, of Nicol Arms Apartments, is charged with 12 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle, 10 counts of larceny after breaking and entering and one count each of injury to personal property and felony possession of stolen goods, according to Detective John Buchanan of the Sylva Police Department.

The break-ins began Sept, 8, and Harkin was arrested Friday night, Buchanan said. Bond was set at $60,000, according to Buchanan.

The break-ins occurred primarily in the Savannah Drive and Yellowbird Branch areas, Buchanan said. Various items, including electronic equipment, were taken from the “unsecured cars,” Buchanan said.

Buchanan and Detective Aimee Watson investigated the case.

Harkin’s court date is set for Oct. 7.
