Community Chorus to begin rehearsals for holiday concert

Western Carolina Community Chorus will resume its regular rehearsals Sunday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m.

The group, now in its 39th season, meets weekly in the choral room (357) in Western Carolina University’s Coulter Building.

The first program in the 2008-2009 series will be a holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 14. Singers will be joined in this program by the woodwind quintet from WCU’s school of music.

The Western Carolina Community Chorus is sponsored by Western Carolina University, the Jackson County Arts Council, and the Grassroots Program of the N.C. Arts Council. During its 38 years of existence, the group has performed more than 80 concerts in 16 different locations throughout the region.

Experienced singers interested in joining the organization can attend rehearsal. Audition is not required, but prospective members are expected to have significant experience singing in school, college or church choirs.

For further information about the chorus, contact its director, James Dooley by telephone at 293-5589 or by e-mail at jb.dooley@verizon.net.
