Honorable mention
Jennifer Thomas of Whittier earned one of three honorable mentions in this year’s Sylva Herald “Mountain Spring” photo contest with this image she titled “Spring at WCU” that was taken in front of Western Carolina University’s Killian Annex. Other winners include Kaitlin Grant of Cullowhee, first; F.C. Etier of Maggie Valley, second; Dave Redman of Sylva, third; and Dara Eberly-Smith of Livermore, Calif., and Ron Allen of Sylva, honorable mention. Area landscape photographer and former Smoky Mountain High School biology teacher Larry Tucker judged this year’s entries. Selected contest photos will remain on display at the newspaper’s Main Street offices through June; winners were announced in conjunction with downtown Sylva’s April 26 Greening Up the Mountains festival. |
