Monthly concert series to begin this Friday

The new Friday Night Live series of concerts is set to bring music to town on the last Friday of each month.

Beginning this Friday, March 28, Friday Night Live will highlight the best performers in Jackson County, including folk, rock, country, bluegrass, easy listening and all things in between. Friday Night Live is a joint venture of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and the Jackson County Tourism Authority.

Venues for these shows range from traditional spots like restaurants and bars to unique locations such as pottery studios, bookstores, and even a real estate office.

The initial event will feature 10 live performances, including Triggerfish at Papou’s Wine Bar; Sugar Barnes and Friends at Riverwood Pottery; Free Range Blues at Soul Infusion Bistro; dulcimer music at the Friends of The Jackson County Library bookstore; and traditional bluegrass at the WNC Brokers real estate office.

Triggerfish is a Sylva-based trio that draws on jazz, rock, funk, blues and country to create a unique vibe for audiences, while Barnes is an acclaimed blues vocalist from Dillsboro. Blues are also the order of the day for local duo Free Range Blues.

For complete information on the Friday Night Live series, including a list of bands and show times, visit www.mountainlovers.com or call the Chamber of Commerce at 586-2155.
