First place will be on line here Friday
First place in the Western Athletic Conference men’s and women’s basketball standings will be on the line Friday when Pisgah visits the Smoky Mountain gym.
The Mustang men (15-0, 3-0) are ranked number one in the state among 2-A schools. Pisgah is ranked 10th and is also 3-0 in the WAC.
Both women’s teams are 3-0 in the WAC as well. The Lady Mustangs are 12-2 overall and ranked seventh in the state.
Action will begin with the JV women at 4 p.m. followed by the JV men, varsity women and varsity men.
The Mustangs and Lady Mustangs were scheduled to play Tuesday at West Henderson, but those games were postponed due to the threat of icy roads.
They were reset for Wednesday. Results were not known at Herald press time.
The varsity games are slated to begin with the women at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men.
JVs will play in the auxiliary gym starting with the women at 4 p.m.
