SM women to scrimmage on Tuesday at Hayesville

Smoky Mountain’s women’s basketball team, the defending state 2-A champions, will hold its first scrimmage at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Hayesville.

The scrimmage was originally set for today (Thursday) at the SM gym, but it was postponed and the site changed.

“Practices have been going well,” Coach Cindi Simmons said. “Everybody’s working hard and getting after it. I’m anxious to see them against another opponent in live competition.”

Juniors Tasha Junaluska and Ashley Robinson are returning all-conference players from last year’s 30-2 team.

The Lady Mustangs, as well as the SM men, will scrimmage at Owen on Saturday, Nov. 17. The women will start at 11 a.m. followed by the men.

The Mustang men will have a home scrimmage at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, against Mitchell.

The regular season will open Tuesday, Nov. 27, when Tuscola visits the SM gym.
