Truck driver is injured in Monday morning accident
By Carey Phillips
The driver of a commercial straight flat bed truck was airlifted to Mission Hospitals in Asheville following a wreck Monday (Aug. 20).
Rickey Davis Fullbright II, 21, of Hendersonville, remained a patient at Mission on Tuesday afternoon. No condition report was available at press time.
Fullbright was traveling north (toward Cullowhee) on N.C. 107 around 11:25 a.m. when he wrecked between Tuckasegee and Glenville. The accident happened just south of Cabbage Curve.
The truck, owned by French Broad Supply of Hendersonville, skidded off the road to the left, overturned, struck a tree and went down an embankment, according to Trooper Steve Allred of the N.C. Highway Patrol. The truck then hit a parked vehicle in a driveway below the road, he said.
Charges are pending, according to Allred.
Fullbright was taken by ambulance to Pine Creek where a landing zone was set up for the helicopter to fly him to Mission.
