Webster to prepare community survey

By Amy Hall

Webster town board members decided at their March 1 meeting to prepare a survey to gather community input.

The survey will include questions regarding the town’s proposed short and long-term goals, such as garbage pickup, streetlights, and community watch programs.

Board member Neal Morgan volunteered to prepare the survey that will be mailed to Webster residents.

“If we clearly define our short and long-term goals in the survey, then I think the community will be very responsive,” said Morgan. “We will be able to get a good idea of what residents want.”

Other immediate goals proposed by the board include organizing community gatherings, replacing damaged road signs, the hiring of a person for sidewalk maintenance, and the appointment of a grant writer.

Long-term goals of the board include the construction of a park and community center, walking trails, underground utilities, and Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority-provided services.

The board also discussed interior and exterior work to be done at the town hall building. These plans include renovating the interior of the building by changing the layout of the rooms and plumbing repairs. Board members said they also hope to add a handicap ramp in the near future.
