Verizon payments to be accepted at Excel Payroll

Verizon customers can now pay their telephone bills at Excel Payroll in Sylva Plaza.
Verizon spokesperson Bob Elek said Friday that Excel would become a Verizon payment agent as of Tuesday (March 13), and that another local payment agent may also begin taking those bills soon.
The county was left without a payment center after Total Data Systems/Radio Shack stopped taking payments March 1 due to a disagreement with a third-party agent, Fidelity Express, which handles the fiscal transactions.
The disagreement arose over Fidelity’s proposed $1 charge to all customers paying Verizon land-line bills in person at the store. That policy will also apply to any new Fidelity agents accepting those bills.
Radio Shack still accepts Verizon Wireless and Duke Power payments.
