Authorities seek info on cemetery vandalism

By Justin Goble

Officials are looking for any information about cemetery vandalism that occurred this past weekend.

According to Capt. Steve Lillard with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, vandals entered Wesleyanna Cemetery sometime between March 8 and March 10, breaking some of the headstones and flower vases adorning the graves.

Though there are no hard figures, Lillard said the vandals did “several hundred dollars” worth of damage.

A reward is being offered for information that can lead to an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Jackson County CrimeStoppers hotline at 631-1125 or by e-mail at crimestoppers@jacksonnc.org.
