WCU ‘rock’ exhibit
The Fine Art Museum at Western Carolina University will feature photographs of famous rock ’n’ roll musicians, like The Doors’ drummer John Densmore, left, and singer Jim Morrison, in the exhibit “Cleveland Rocks: The Birthplace of Rock ’n’ Roll: Photographs of George Shuba.” March 15 through May 12. A free public viewing of the exhibition will take place Friday, March 23, beginning at 5 p.m. in the museum, as part of a weekend of art and music at WCU. The exhibit’s 40 original black-and-white photographs capture rare concert shots of artists such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, James Brown, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Dizzie Gillespie, B.B. King, Taj Mahal and others. The exhibition at WCU will mark the premiere of the collection’s 2007-2008 national tour, which will conclude at the Rock and Roll Museum and Hall of Fame in Cleveland in 2008. Art Museum.
