REACH OF JACKSON COUNTY will host its fourth annual spring event on May 3, from 6:30 until 10 p.m. at High Hampton Inn in Cashiers. This benefit is held each year to raise money for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Theme for this year’s event is “Viva Las Vegas.” Guests will be able to treat themselves to an exciting night of “high stakes” fun. REACH will present live entertainment, dancing, dinner, and both silent and live auctions in Vegas style for only $75 per person. Tickets go on sale March 30. STEVE ALEXANDER OF HEARTS WITH HANDS is organizing a community effort to build a new home for disabled Caney Fork resident Tim Phillips. Work began on the new house during the last week of February, and the effort is being co-sponsored by several local churches, individuals and organizations. Donations and labor contributions are needed to help complete the house. A SCRABBLE AND SUDOKU fund-raiser for the Bridge Park Project is planned for Saturday, April 14, at Guadalupe Cafe. Those planning to enter are asked to recruit sponsors, and all funds go toward the community effort to build a new park. An entrance fee of $10 is required of entrants in each contest, along with a registration form that is available at the Bridge Park Web site (www.bridgepark.org) and at Guadalupe and City Lights Bookstore.
