SM golfers fall to Bears
Smoky Mountain’s golf team opened its season Feb. 28 against Pisgah at Springdale Country Club.
The Bears came out on top with a 178 to SM’s 194.
Jonathan Denton led the Mustangs with a 45 to tie for second overall. Completing the Mustangs’ top four were Jake Roper and Zack Christy (49) and Cameron Buchanan (51).
“We’re excited about the new season,” Coach Si Simmons said. “They’ve worked hard in the pre-season. As a team, we didn’t make the regionals last year, but we had a couple of individuals to qualify. We feel we can be competitive in the conference as a team and look for some individuals to do very well.”
