Driver Anita Franks, 34, of Kirkwood, Mo., escaped with minor injuries Friday (March 2) after her 2005 Volvo tractor-trailer rolled down an embankment around 7:45 p.m. Franks was heading north (toward Dillsboro) on U.S. 441 and was coming off a steep grade when she lost control, rolled over and slid down the bank, according to Sgt. Paul Campbell of the N.C. Highway Patrol. The truck, owned by Central Refrigerated of West Valley City, Utah, was loaded with 29,000 pounds of chicken that had to be destroyed, Campbell said. Franks was charged with reckless driving.
