SM wrestlers defeat Pisgah; lose match to W. Henderson

Smoky Mountain’s wrestling team split a pair of Western Athletic Conference matches last week leaving the Mustangs 1-2 in the league.

West Henderson took a 52-25 win Jan. 16 at West as the Mustangs failed to hold a 19-0 lead.

“West came back as most of our newer wrestlers had their turn,” Coach Chuck Beane said. “Our new kids worked hard, but they need to get more experience to compete in these tough conference matches. The good thing is that we will have these kids back next year and they will be older and wiser.”
