The Sylva Herald has altered its popular “Then and Now” feature most weeks to publish interesting but undated photos, like this shot that Peggy Revis of Sylva believes to be a telephone company fishing trip from around 1960. Anyone with more information about the photo may call Lynn Hotaling at 586-2611, ext. 206, or send an e-mail to lynn@thesylvaherald.com. Information we obtain will be added with the photo to The Herald’s online archives and included in “Things & Stuff.” The Herald will continue a “Then and Now” at least once a month. Readers who have photos taken in Jackson County that are at least 25 years old and include a recognizable feature (such as an existing building, highway, mountaintop or ridgeline) are invited to submit them for use in “Then and Now.” Photos can be dropped off or mailed to the newspaper office. As a convenience to those who would prefer not to let their cherished photos out of their sight, Herald photographer Nick Breedlove will scan photos Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between 10 and 11 a.m. Those with questions about potential “Then and Now” photos may contact Breedlove at 586-2611, ext. 310, or nick@thesylvaherald.com. |
