CHECK PHOTO ALBUMS AND SCRAPBOOKS to find pictures for The Sylva Herald’s “Christmas Photo Gallery,” which will be published in the newspaper’s Dec. 21 holiday special section. All seasonal photos – both present and past – will be considered, with publication preference given to candid images. It’s not a contest, which means any photo in your possession is eligible, including scenes from church or school Christmas plays, families decorating cookies or Christmas trees, and any other holiday-themed photos. As a convenience to readers, the newspaper’s graphics expert Nick Breedlove will scan cherished photos while you wait on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings between 10 and 11 a.m. Digital files may be e-mailed to nick@thesylvaherald.com. For more information, call Nick at 586-2611, ext. 310. Deadline for entries is Wednesday, Dec. 13.

IT’S BY NATURE will celebrate its third anniversary next Friday, Dec. 8, with a demonstration by Cullowhee watercolor artist Susan Lingg from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Gallery owner Sandi Cooper will offer refreshments, door prizes and chances on gift certificates. Call the gallery at 631-3020 for more information.
