Mustangs to play Enka in pair of games

Basketball teams from Smoky Mountain and Enka should be getting to know each other fairly well over the next few days as the men and women square off twice during the coming week.

The first meeting will be Friday, Dec. 1, at Enka with the return engagement the home-opener for the Mustangs on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

The Lady Mustangs are 2-0 after Tuesday’s 71-20 rout at Tuscola behind 25 points from Cetera DeGraffenreid. Tasha Junaluska added 13 points, and Amy Haggard had 11.

The Mustang men got their season off to a good start with a 73-51 victory over the Mountaineers as Jimmy Cleaveland made a successful debut as coach. Martin Davis and Dillon Dunford pumped in 23 and 20 points, respectively, and Rodney McCormick netted 12.

Details of those games will be in next week’s Herald.
