Catamounts visit Stovall

092806raymonstovall
Prior to leaving for Furman on Friday, Western Carolina Coach Kent Briggs along with seniors Bennett Swygert, Bubba Hamrick and Darius Fudge visited long-time Catamount supporter Raymon Stovall at Skyland Care Center. The 96-year-old Stovall had attended every home Western football game for more than 50 years until this season. “What an honor it was to spend time with such a great Catamount,” Briggs said. “Raymon has committed most of his life to being a Catamount fan, and his enthusiasm is still there at the age of 96. He is an inspiration for all of us. We are thankful that players of the present had this opportunity to spend time him.” A charter member of the Catamount Club, Stovall is a retired Sylva businessman. When Western expanded its stadium by opening the west side stands for the 2003 season, Stovall was honored by the Athletic Department in recognition of his consecutive home game streak.
