County leaders to meet with architects for planned library
By Justin Goble
County commissioners Monday (Sept. 18) announced they would hold a meeting with McMillan Smith and Partners, architects for the new Jackson County Public Library.
The meeting, set for 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in the Commissioners’ board room at the Justice Center, will allow county officials to discuss ideas and plans they have for the new library. McMillan Smith will hold similar meetings with the public to get ideas from citizens before beginning design work.
In other business Sept. 18:
– Commissioners appointed Chuck Norris, Mark Hooper and Todd Dillard to the county’s Transportation Study Task Force. Debbie Brooks, Christy Hughes and Lloyd Peterson were named to the Criminal Justice Partnership Program.
An appointment to the Jackson County Cemetery Board was tabled.
– Commissioners also tabled two appointments to the Jackson County Airport Authority.
According to Commissioners’ Chairman Brian McMahan, the authority only recommended one person for appointment. As per state statute, the authority must submit two names for consideration, McMahan said.
Commissioners will draft a letter instructing authority members to recommend another person.
