Charter school fund-raiser
Summit Charter School held its 10th annual “Encore” fund-raiser Saturday night (Sept. 9) under a big tent on the 25-acre site off Cashiers School Road that will one day house a new building for Jackson County’s only charter school. The event, which included auctions, dinner and dancing, raised money for the building fund. “We’re still tallying the money we raised, but we had a great turnout,” said school Director Pat Igrahan. Summit, a public school that opened in 1997, currently has 178 students but hopes to expand when the new building becomes a reality. “We’re hoping to be able to hold between 200 and 225 students,” Ingrahan said. – Herald photo by Nick Breedlove.
