Todd Dillard to head up Jackson’s emergency management
By Lynn Hotaling
As of Friday, Jackson County has a new head of emergency management.
Todd Dillard, who has assisted Jackson County Emergency Coordinator Mike Ensley since he was named fire marshal in August 2003, switched jobs with Ensley effective Sept. 1, according to county Manager Ken Westmoreland.
According to Dillard, he will serve as assistant fire marshal, and Ensley will be assistant emergency management coordinator.
The switch in titles and responsibilities was made at Ensley’s request, and was done due to medical concerns on Ensley’s part, Westmoreland said.
A paramedic who spent 11 years as the EMS technician with the Glenville-Cashiers Rescue Squad, Dillard is also a member of the Cashiers-Glenville Fire Department.
“It’s a huge responsibility,” he said of his new job. “I appreciate the opportunity and the county’s faith in me.”
Dillard said he doesn’t anticipate any immediate changes in the way county emergency services operate.
“That’s something we’ll have to look at and evaluate,” he said Tuesday. “There may be some changes down the road.”
A Cashiers native, Dillard is a son of the late Norton and Melba Dillard.
