Reading celebration
Kids and parents pick out prizes while Tim Beck’s Rock ’n’ Roll Band plays during the Jackson County Library’s party that celebrated the end of its “Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales” summer reading program Saturday (July 29). According to children’s librarian Elizabeth Jenkins, left, more than 600 kids took part in the eight weeks of day camps and activities. “Our whole program promotes reading as fun,” Jenkins said. “We kept up with how much they read and how much they were read to.” During the party, each child was given a certificate of completion and a prize. – Herald photo by Justin Goble.
