TM TECHNOLOGY is sponsoring an effort to help Jackson county businesses locate other Jackson county businesses for trade. According to owner Larry Gardner, by locating local businesses to work with when possible, we can keep local families productive in the business climate and provide the framework to give our children ways to make a living without having to leave the county. TM has formed a Web site, www.jacksoncounty-nc.com, a central directory where Jackson county businesses can advertise their own unique talents so others in the county can find them. TM provides Web pages to those who don’t have; those with existing sites get an advertising link on the TM site. This service, including the Web page development, hosting and advertising is provided for $100 annually. Plans are to add companion sites specific to Sylva, Cashiers and Dillsboro, For more information visit online at www.jacksoncounty-nc.com or call 586-1258.

BALSAM MOUNTAIN PRESERVE has announced the appointment of Barbara Matzick as senior vice president of sales and marketing. WE ALSO RECEIVED A NOTE from Eleanor Neslen-Ramsay of Newport Beach, Calif. She and her husband were visiting Sylva to attend her grandson George Neslen’s high school graduation and the wedding of granddaughter Jenny Neslen. While here, Bob Ramsay suffered a stroke, and Neslen-Ramsay wrote to tell us of the excellent care he received at Harris Rregional Hospital. “I want to share with the community of Sylva how fortunate you are to have such an excellent medical center in this area,” Neslen-Ramsay wrote. “I salute in appreciation the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff at Harris Regional Hospital.”
