Then and now
The top photo shows the old Manus Hanley and Mary Jane Long Morris house, which was located on the corner of Jackson and King streets in a portion of the current Sylva First Methodist Church parking lot. The Morrises owned and operated the Commercial Hotel, which was featured in “Then and Now” on May 18. Manus Morris sold the house to Dr. Ralph Morgan around 1970 and it was subsequently demolished to create parking for Morgan’s medical office, which was then located at the corner of Spring and Jackson streets in the current City Lights location. – Photo courtesy of Jack Morris (top) and Herald photo by Nick Breedlove. |
