Hugh Johnson
Hugh C. Johnson Jr., 90, of Waycross, Ga., died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Baptist Village in Waycross after an extended illness.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Central Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
He was born in Carroll County, Ga., and had lived in Waycross for the last 51 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during World War II, and worked as a salesman for International Harvester Company and Pat Reid Inc. He enjoyed exploring the outdoors. He was a son of the late Hugh C. Johnson and Mabel Harper Johnson.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Agnes Wilson Johnson, formerly of Sylva; and one sister, Mary J. Robinson of Roswell, Ga.
Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 Ava St., Waycross, GA 31501.

Faye Queen
Faye Jewell Queen, 75, of Bryson City’s Governors Island community, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at Mountain Trace Nursing Center.
Services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Cornerstone Wesleyan Church in Bryson City, of which she was a member, with the Revs. Paul Sale and Trish Crockett officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Garden in South Carolina.
A native of South Carolina, she had been a resident of Bryson City since 1973.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil G. Queen; one daughter, Hazel Watson; four sisters; two brothers; and one great-grandson.
Surviving are four sons, Charles Lowman of North Augusta, S.C., Laverne Lowman of Charlottesville, Va., Michael Lowman of Kinchelo, Mich., and Cecil D. Queen of Whittier; three daughters, Jewell Minielly of Alganac, Mich., Brenda Moyer of North Augusta and Kathy Mathews of Whittier; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Crisp Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Helen Hensley
Helen Carnes Hensley, 91, of Dillsboro, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at Harris Regional Hospital following a period of declining health.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 26, at Long Branch Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Revs. Avery Brown and Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial was in Franklin Cemetery, Dillsboro.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County. She worked at Sylco Corporation. She was a daughter of the late Cance Carnes and Lottie Gibson Carnes.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Julius Burton Hensley; one son who died in infancy, Burton Hensley Jr.; one daughter who died in infancy, Wilma Hensley; two brothers, Elbert Carnes and Cance Carnes Jr.; and one sister, Eloise Chambers.
Surviving are four daughters, Shirley Ann Hensley Crisp of Dillsboro, Brenda Madge Hensley Douthit of Bryson City, Jolene Hensley Hooper of Sylva and Sam Glenda Hensley McFee of Beaufort, S.C.; three sons, Larry Edward Hensley of Montesano, Wash., Cance Elbert Hensley of Cullowhee and William Michael Hensley of Webster; one brother, Charles Carnes of Dillsboro; two sisters, Etta Lee Freeman of Sylva and Claudia Lark of Rock Hill, S.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
