SMHS to stage ‘Sound of Music’
Smoky Mountain High School will present Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The Sound of Music” Friday and Saturday, May 12 and 13, at Western Carolina University’s Fine and Performing Arts Center at 7:30 each night. Linda Haggard will direct the students’ performance of the Tony Award-winning musical, and the show stars Katy Elders as Maria and Josh Jones as Capt. von Trapp. Tickets, which are on sale now, are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. To order advance tickets, call Haggard at 586-2177, ext. 285. Tickets may also be purchased at the door before each performance. Rehearsing the scene in Maria’s bedroom that features one of the show’s most memorable tunes – “My Favorite Things” – are, from left, Paul Hammer, Britney Acosta, Cadance Railsback, Elders, Jennifer Harr, Colleen Davis and Seth Kuehn. – Herald photo by Nick Breedlove |
