ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed bids for the project entitled Sewer Interceptor Pipe Lining will be received by the Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority at 2:00 p.m. local time May 23, 2006 in the Tuckaseegee Water and Sewer Authority office in Sylva, North Carolina and then publicly opened and read aloud.
The project generally consists of rehabilitation of approximately 6,400 LF of 24-inch RCP sewer line by providing all labor, materials, tools and equipment required for installation of a Cured-in-Place liner, and other miscellaneous sewer line rehabilitation. The CIPP process shall be by a pre-qualified licensed contractor of a pre-qualified manufacturer.
All work shall be performed by a pre-qualified contractor using materials and processes of a pre-qualified manufacturer. Any manufacturers and contractors wishing to pre-qualify shall submit a pre-qualification submittal to McGill Associates by May 2, 2006.
Prior to bidding, a pre-bid conference shall be held for all pre-qualified manufacturers and contractors. The pre-bid conference shall be held at 10:00, Thursday, May 11th, 2006 at the office of the Tuckaseigee Water and Sewer Authority located at 1246 West Main Street, Sylva, North Carolina 28779.

Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained at the office of the Engineer, McGill Associates, P.A., located at 55 Broad Street, Asheville, North Carolina 28801 or Post Office Box 2259, Asheville, North Carolina 28802 upon payment of $50 for each set. There will be no refund to any party for Contract Documents so obtained.
Bidders and other interested parties should note that prequalification of liner contractors by the Engineer prior to the bid opening shall be required for this project. Contractors’ prequalification requirements are described in the Contract Documents.
A certified check or cashiers check payable to the Tuckaseegee Water and Sewer Authority or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by a corporate surety licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute such bonds in the amount equal to five percent of the total of the bid shall be submitted with each bid.
The Owner reserves the right to waive any informalities or reject any or all bids. The Owner reserves the right to award a contract to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder.
The successful bidder shall be required to furnish separate, 100 percent Performance and Payment Bonds in compliance with North Carolina General Statutes Section 143-129 and of Article 3 of Chapter 44A. The Performance Bond shall be in full force and effect for one (1) year after the date of final acceptance of the project by the Owner.
The bid deposit shall be retained by the Owner if the successful bidder fails to execute the contract or fails to provide the required bonds, as stated above, within ten (10) days after award of the contract.
Each bidder must be appropriately licensed as a Contractor in the State of North Carolina as provided in General Statutes Chapter 87. Each bidder shall make positive efforts to use small and minority owned business enterprises on this project.
A conditional or qualified BID will not be accepted.
