River cleanup to be Saturday
Volunteers raft down the river looking for trash during the 2005 Tuckaseigee River Cleanup, when nearly four tons of refuse was removed from the river by community and campus volunteers organized by Western Carolina University. This year’s cleanup effort is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, with registration and safety instructions beginning at 11 a.m. on the Hinds University Center Lawn. At the end of the day, volunteers are invited to attend a free cookout, with door prizes and food, and musical entertainment provided by the Whitewater Bluegrass Band.
