Melton, Carter vie for Clerk of Court position - With only two Democrats seeking election as Jackson County’s Clerk of Court, the outcome will be decided with the upcoming primary on Tuesday, May 2. Contenders are incumbent Ann Melton, who was appointed to the position by Resident Superior Court Judge Marlene Hyatt when longtime Clerk Frank Watson retired in 2004, and Elaine Carter, a former employee in the Clerk’s Office.
