Smoky Mountain track teams run in two meets at Madison
Smoky Mountain’s men’s and women’s track teams made a pair of trips to Madison last week.
The Mustang men finished second in a meet on March 28 Those who placed included:
Triple jump, Rodney McCormick, third, 34-3.
800 relay, Tyler Clarke, Stephen Gates, Darrell Buchanan and Travis Holloman, first, 1:41.
Long jump, McCormick, third, 17-11.25.
Smoky Mountain’s Chelsea Schultz finished third in the long jump with a leap of 14-6 in last Thursday’s Madison Invitational.
1,600 run, Travis Brotherton, first, 4:43.
400 relay, Clarke, T.J. Bradley, Gates and Holloman, first, 47.76.
400 dash, Jack Cooper, fourth, 57.8.
High jump, C.J. Fortner, first, 6-0.

The Mustangs were fourth out of nine teams at the Madison Invitational on Friday. Those who placed included:

“I’m pleased with the way they performed,” Coach Dale Galloway. “We want to have as many qualify for the regionals as we can. A lot of them are getting close.”
