Kirkland is medalist for SM golfers
Smoky Mountain’s golfers took part in a pair of matches last week.
J.T. Kirkland shot a 38 to win medalist honors at Conastee Falls on March 28.
SM was second among five teams with a 173, just two strokes behind Erwin.
Pisgah downed the Mustangs 168-173 in a dual match last Thursday at High Hampton.
Kirkland again led SM with a 37. Justin Garlock and Jonathan Denton both shot 45.
“Kirkland is leading us with Garlock and Denton a close second and third,” Coach Si Simmons said. “April is when it really gets started with 18-hole matches.”
The Western Athletic Conference Tournament is set for April 24 and 26 at Crooked Creek in Hendersonville.
“We’re gearing up for that,” Simmons said.
