Pulling for special olympics
Jackson County Rescue Squad members take their turn pulling a 38,000-pound fire truck 20 feet during Sylva Police Department’s first Fire Truck Pull, which was held Saturday (March 25) in the parking lot of Ryan’s Steakhouse. Some 30 teams took part in the event, which raised $7,964 for Special Olympics North Carolina. According to organizer and Sylva Police Officer Jeff Postell, that success was due in large part to the community’s participation. “This just goes to show that the community is 100 percent behind Special Olympics,” he said.
