Western’s Williamson claims regional honor
Fresh off winning the Southern Conference men’s indoor track championship and garnering the league’s men’s coach of the year honor, Western Carolina’s Danny Williamson has been named the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional men’s Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.
The Southeast region includes North and South Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky.
This is the third time Williamson has received a regional award.
National men’s and women’s coaches of the year will be named after the NCAA Championships in Arkansas.
“This is a great honor to receive, and it is because of the hard work and dedication of a lot of student-athletes,” Williamson said. “They deserve a lot of the credit for this award. This is an award for our entire coaching staff. They have put in a ton of hard work and long hours. Our entire program, both athletes and all the coaches, will share in this award.”
Williamson has earned conference coach of the year honors a combined 19 times between men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track.
