SM golfers take part in two matches
Smoky Mountain’s golf team participated in a pair of matches last week.
The Mustangs were second on March 6 at Glen Cannon in Brevard. East Henderson came out on top with a 176 followed by SM (190) and Pisgah (201).
Leading the way for the Mustangs was J.T. Kirkland with a 42. Jonathan Denton was SM’s second -place finisher at 48.
Hayesville was the winner on March 8 at Chatuge Shores in Hayesville. The Yellow Jackets posted a 176 followed by Union County, Ga. (185) and SM (187).
Justin Garlock topped the Mustangs with a 41. Kirkland finished at 44.
“We’re real proud of the progress,” Coach Si Simmons said. “It’s still early. We’re trying to build toward the tournament in April.”
At least two matches were scheduled for this week. Results were not known at the Herald sports deadline.
