Show Choir prepares for dress sale
Trying on formals in preparation for this weekend’s “Second-Time-Around Shop” are, from left, Chelsea Parham, Martha Savage, Katie Setzer and Katy Elders. The girls are members of Smoky Mountain High School’s Show Choir, which found out late last week that it had qualified for an educational trip to New York. The news sent the group into fund-raising overdrive; the goal is to raise $10,000 in barely a month, said Show Choir Director Linda Haggard. Their first effort is a consignment prom dress boutique, which will be open this Friday (3-7 p.m.), Saturday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) and Monday (3-7 p.m.), March 17, 18 and 20, in the school chorus room. Prom-bound students can shop for barely-worn dresses at a fraction of retail. Members of the community are invited to bring dresses to sell on consignment.
