Nine errors help Franklin stop SM
Smoky Mountain committed nine errors, and Franklin pounded out 13 hits as the Lady Panthers breezed to a 10-1 non-conference softball victory over Smoky Mountain on March 7 at Franklin.
“We just did not field the ball,” Coach Mark Taylor said. “It was as simple as that. Hopefully, our bad game is over with.”
The problems started in the first inning when four errors helped lead to two runs.

April Woodall started the second with a double, and Amber Bennett and Samantha Ledford had RBI singles making it 4-0,
The Lady Mustangs’ scored their lone run in the third on consecutive singles by Cassie Randall, Jessica Cabe and Megan Taylor.
Brandi Yokley started the Franklin third with a home run, and Kimberly Nesbit had an RBI double making it 6-1.
Franklin continued the onslaught with two runs in the fourth and one each in the fifth and sixth. SM committed at least one error in each inning.
Ledford was three of four to pace to Lady Panther offense. Yokley and Bennett both had two hits.
Taylor led the Lady Mustangs at the plate by going two of four.
She took the first four innings and took the loss. Half of the eight runs she allowed were unearned.
Rachel Stewman pitched the last two innings and gave up two unearned runs.
