TWO LOCAL ESTABLISHMENTS are among restaurants and bakeries throughout Western North Carolina that are participating in the 2006 WNC Girl Scout Cookie Cook-Off. Each participating eatery creates desserts based on one of eight varieties of Girl Scout cookies and then sells the dessert for part or all of a month starting Feb. 24 and running through March 20. A portion of the proceeds from each dessert sale will be donated to Girl Scouts of Western North Carolina Pisgah Council. Lulu’s on Main will offer its cookie confection from Monday, March 13, through Saturday, March 18, and Soul Infusion Tea House dessert is available now through March 18. Girl Scout friends and restaurant patrons will be able to vote for their favorite dessert by visiting the Girl Scout Web site at www.girlscoutswnc.org/, or by completing a paper ballot available at participating eateries. An award will be presented to the restaurant/bakery which receives the most votes for favorite dessert in each of four geographic areas; Jackson County is in Area 4.
