Robbers hit bank in Cashiers - For the second time in as many months a Cashiers bank has been robbed. Two men armed with handguns entered Macon Bank on U.S. 64 East shortly after 9 a.m. last Thursday (Feb. 23) and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Capt. Officials OK Aug. 25 start date for schools - School officials approved a calendar for the upcoming school year during their meeting Monday (Feb. 27). According to the schedule, teachers will begin work on Aug. 21, while students will return Aug. 25. The first day of classes is a Friday, something that concerns some parents, Superintendent Sue Nations said.
