Woman faces charges in connection with assault

By Lynn Hotaling

A022306wolfe Sunday morning assault at the Haven Ensley trailer park sent a Webster man to the hospital and resulted in the arrest of a Cherokee woman.

Officers with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were called to the trailer park in reference to a domestic dispute around 12:30 a.m., according to Capt. Steve Lillard.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the injured man, Darrell George, 35, who had been assaulted with a hammer by Yulonda Renee Wolfe, 34, of Cherokee, Lillard said. George had been struck in the head, Lillard said.

George was initially transported to Mission Hospitals in Asheville, Lillard said. Authorities were told by a family member that George checked himself out of the hospital.

Wolfe was arrested and is still in jail in lieu of a $40,000 bond, Lillard said. She faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Lillard said.

There is evidence that alcohol was involved in the incident, Lillard said.
