Deitz Family to play next WCU jam

A performance by Jackson County’s own Deitz Family will be presented during the old-time and bluegrass music jam session scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 2, at Western Carolina University’s Mountain Heritage Center. The family has performed at all 31 editions of Western’s Mountain Heritage Day, and also at numerous cake walks, benefit concerts and school programs around the region. The Deitz Family, from left, Bill, Joe, Dolores and Crystal Deitz, will perform from 7 to 7:45 p.m., after which the regular jam session will begin. The event is open to pickers and singers of all ages and experience levels, and also to those who just want to listen. For more information, contact the Mountain Heritage Center at 227-7129.
