Owens named top women’s swimmer during WAC meet
Smoky Mountain senior Megan Owens was named the most valuable swimmer at the women’s Western Athletic Conference Meet held Saturday at Brevard.
Owens won the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.09 and the 100 free in 57.88.
Smoky Mountain’s Megan Owens was named the most valuable women’s swimmer at the Western Athletic Conference Meet held Saturday at Brevard. She won two events for the Lady Mustangs.
The school’s female nominee for the Wendy’s High School Heisman, Owens has been hampered by illness this season. Although she has qualified for the State 2-A Meet in all of her events, she will not be able to compete in the middle distance races. She will concentrate on shorter sprint events.
The Lady Mustangs placed second at the WAC Meet while the Mustang men were third.
