Mustang wrestlers excel
Four Smoky Mountain wrestlers finished in the top three in Saturday’s tournament at Robbinsville, They were, from left: Steven Gates, 145, third; Joey Cox, 130, third, George Neslen, 160, first; and T.J. Bradley, 215, first. Also doing well was Mason Neff, who was fourth at 119. SM finished seventh as a team. The Mustang dropped a 46-33 Western Athletic Conference decision at home to West Henderson on Jan. 17. SM wrestlers recording pins were Cox, Buddy Jarvis (135), Gates, Chad Harper (152) and Bradley. Neslen, who is still undefeated, won by decision. Pisgah was a 43-30 winner in a WAC match Friday at Canton. Mustangs who won by pin were Cox and Jarvis. Neslen and Gates decisioned their opponents. Winning by forfeit were John-Luke McCord (140) and Hunter Maloy (171). |
